Lurking deep in the shire, somewhere on the Essex/ Suffolk border, duo Frett have been producing exciting electronic infused indie for the past year. Masterfully weaving lyrics evoking the harsh banality of urban life into pleasurable sonic explosions and with an unrivalled passion and voracious appetite for all kinds of music, Frett continuously experiment with new sounds; recording, mixing and mastering all the music they have released to date.

Their last single, Tyro, garnered them a premiere on i-D and with support from BBC Introducing, 6 Music, XFM and Kerrang!, they’ve now been chosen to play Latitude Festival 2015.

SINGLE: “DROP OF STARCH”

Starch
1.1, noun – A substance used to create a state of stiffness in fabrics
1.2, adjective – Stiffness or formality, as of manner

Drop of Starch was born out of red wine, late night scribblings and musical jottings of various riffs layered up on a loop pedal. The sense of minimalism in Drop of Starch is something that Frett have become more and more interested in, and this track epitomises this sense of layering. The start of the track is recorded almost exactly as it was written; starting with the little synth sequence, bringing on a guitar riff and then its counterpart before the bass and synths spring to life.

The strong beat through Drop Of Starch has been picked up through influences the likes of Jai Paul, The Acid and Bonobo. Having covered ‘Drop The Game’ for some time now in their live shows, the musical importance of Flume and Chet Faker is also evident.
